Pain Killer use is epidemic among teens! 1 in 5 teens report abusing parents prescription medications

According to a report BY Dr. Barry Ramo on KOAT, prescription pain killer abuse among teens is at epidemic proportions.

What motivates teens to engage in prescription drug abuse? Ultimately, their desire for getting high outweighs their perception of the risks.

12 to 17 year olds abuse prescription drugs more than they abuse ecstasy, crack/cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine combined
60% of teens who have abused prescription painkillers did so before age 15

If you are a parent, there are things you can do to prevent, monitor, secure and dispose. Please get your head out of the sand and become more aware of what could be going on with your kids.
